ERASE, Inc. Announces Receipt of Office on Women's Health-Coalition for a Healthier Community Grant

SHOW9/27/2010 - ERASE, Inc. - (East of the River Action for Substance Abuse Elimination), the area’s Regional Action Council for substance abuse prevention and wellness, serving 15 towns east of the Connecticut River is a recent recipient of the Federal Office on Women's Health-Coalition for a Healthier Community Grant.

This collaborative project with East Hartford Community HealthCare, Inc. and InterCommunity, Inc. provides ERASE and its partners $100,000 to establish a coalition to assess the physical and mental health of women and girls in ERASE's 15-town region.  ERASE, EHCHC and IC will work together to create a Coalition of professionals who can provide input and data regarding the physical and mental health of women and girls.  Priority health disparities will be selected based on an analysis of the data.

The information collected will be used to create a comprehensive action plan to address the identified physical and mental health disparities.  This plan will be submitted for funding in August 2011 for $400,000  per year for up to 4 years. ERASE was selected as one of 16 out of 150 applications awarded nationwide. ERASE serves over 300,000 people within its 15 towns, including Andover, Bolton, East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield, Glastonbury, Manchester, Marlborough, Somers, South Windsor, Stafford, Tolland and Vernon.  East Hartford Community HealthCare and InterCommunity Mental Health Group serve the majority of the towns in this catchment area as well.
